Philosophy

There are three foundational training methods and philosophies at The New Gymnasium

 

  • Move well first, without pain

  • Improve your movement quality through physical training

  • Increase your training volume from one training phase to the other

It is our belief that by planning your exercise program around your particular movement profile, you will see increases in strength, flexibility, and work capacity in a healthy, progressive manner.  The common approach to exercise is the reverse from the three methods.  Most people decide to exercise, start off doing too much of the same exercise, and get get hurt, discouraged, or both.  Usually there is no regard for basic movement quality.

The New Gymnasium uses the Functional Movement Screen for its assessment/program design.
